because it needs to be said …

… before my head explodes …

… I took for granted, all the times
That I thought we’d last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I cant get near you now …

Wherever you go, whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you …

whoops

So Thomas, Tayler, and I were standing around looking at toys at a sporting goods store (Bass Pro, the mall map tells me), and Thomas didn’t know I was there … So, I’m standing there debating on buying this $20 stuffed fox when I hear Thomas say, “How do you get this fucker to work, anyway?” He looked up, saw me, and started back-peddling. I bit the insides of my cheeks to keep from laughing too hard – and made a hasty retreat to the snack bar for a hot dog.

[edited to add: Although, watching him back-peddle and turn fifteen different shades of red was worth his faux pas. The whole thing was hilarious, imho]

Here’s the quick and dirty:

Thomas had grown 1.5″ and gained 17# — without the growth hormone (he went off of it in September)!!!! Everyone went on about how healthy and tall he looks. :D He’s 5’4 1/2″ and 120# now. Dr Goebel asked him to be in a clinical study for children with chronic kidney disease. We’ll start that when we go back … in six to nine months !!! (we’d been going back every four)

And I didn’t get yelled at too loudly for my weight gain. To boot, I’m 2.5″ taller than I thought I was. I’m 5’5 1/2″. :D On the downside, my BMI is 37, and anything 35 and over automatically disqualifies a person from becoming a living donor. Dr Goebel said he’d be satisfied if I got mine done to 33 and told me to lose 15#. (I’m still going to shoot for that 60#, though; I lost that 30# before – I can do it again – twice! ;-) )

I took a ton of pictures. They’re on my photobucket account.

edited to add — of course, we’ll know a lot more when we get the results of Thomas’ bloodwork back later this week. He showed some protein in his urine, and that’s never good, but Dr Goebel felt like that it wasn’t anything to panic over. Yet.
