bedtime rituals

Preston and I have our little quirky things we do while we’re getting ready for bed and as we’re dozing off. The one we do just as we’re going to sleep is my favorite, and I can’t really remember exactly when we started it or how or why it came about. But it happened at we kept it.

Poker pokes pokee three times.

Pokee says, “Yes?”

Poker says, “I love you [term of endearment].”

Poker says, “Goodnight, [term of endearment].”

I swear nights he’s not home to do this, or if one of us goes to bed before the other, I have trouble getting to sleep.

Appalachian gothic fiction writer - my works reflect a love of literature flavored by the darkness and magic residing in these ancient mountains. In my spare time, I'm a Simmer, I tumbl, I journal, but I always have a very strange sense of humor. I have lived away from the mountains and lived deep in the mountains. I currently live in Central Kentucky with my lifepartner and his cat. The mountains, their culture, their superstitions, their particular magics, will always be in my blood.
